I am now on Pinterest!

Gosh, the past few months have flown by since my last post. I haven’t disappeared off the face of earth if anyone has wondered about that. Just been super busy with a long-drawn work assignment (anticipated) and new responsibilities at work (not anticipated) that has left me with little time to spend on hobbies like blogging. Now that I am back (sorta), I’ll try to do better.

Home and design-wise for the past three months I have been to the major new store openings like Crate & Barrel (extremely disappointing) and CB2 (I like!). I still continue to read local and overseas interior design and architectural-related mags, and so am continually tempted by stuff that I have no space for… Have avoided much of the flood of new store openings since I no longer have space to buy more stuff, decorative or otherwise (except for wall space, but that’s another story…). But, am still tempted by sales (who isn’t) which is really one trigger for this post…

The mid-years sales are starting!!! (Ok, some already started but yeah…)

Those of you who need to buy furnishings, fixtures and appliances for your home, keep your eyes peeled for sales notices. All the better if you are already member/s or on the mailing lists of the stores. If you are not, perhaps it’s time to get yourself signed up on the mailing list asap. As far as I know (and I’m not even trying very hard to keep abreast of the news):

Designer furniture warehouse sale

Proof warehouse sale 2013_ad

Visited the Proof, Dream Interiors and BoConcept warehouse sale today. Brands included BoConcept (obviously…), Poltrona Frau, Barbara Barry, Walter Knoll, Cappellini, &Tradition, Vitra, Muuto and Ercol. The ad says up to 75% off but I mostly spotted discounts of 30% to 50%.

Wasn’t sure how good the sale would be, but was pleasantly surprised by the variety of items on offer. Items spotted included the iconic Noguchi coffee table (@$2,999 I think), Ercol desk, Vitra chairs and the Karim Rashid chairs for BoConcept. Drawback is that they are mainly displayed items, so scratches possible. But hey, good for anyone who is on budget (sorta… still mostly in terms of hundreds if not thousands of dollars even after discounts) or would like to save some cash. Lots of home accessories too. If you are in the market for cushions (for Chinese New Year perhaps?), vases, plates, fruit holders or even trays, you may like to pop by too. Oh ya and loads of lamps (desk, floor and ceiling) – especially love the &Tradition lamps.

Refer to the online ad (click here) for directions (newspaper ad can be found in the Saturday Life! section).  Some random pics that I took on-location are in the jump below. Last day of sales on Sunday (20 Jan) so do pop by if you are in the market for some home stuff.

19 & 20 January 2013 (Sat & Sun)
11am-6pm
20 Gul Way Level 3
(Free Valet Parking Level 1)

Lunar New Year Decorations from IKEA

IKEA CNY 2013

Sorry for the MIA (missing in action)… started the new year feeling sick and rather sorry for myself. Other realities of life takes priority as well so been feeling rather delinquent about blogging.

Anyways I am back to share my shopping for Chinese New Year. I really like the ‘福’ aka GYRID coasters and pot stands from IKEA so bought quite a few of those. Gave the tableware a miss though since I really don’t need more bowls, cups or bags. Also bought a potted pussy willow (along with the inverted ‘福’ pot) and some other new floor mats to welcome the new year.

Here are some pics so you can do some ‘window shopping’ before popping by. You can also find the usual cheesy CNY decorations at any HDB neighbourhood (and most supermarkets) – hey, what’s CNY without some cutesy snake characters on the walls right?  Alternatively get some soft toy snakes from IKEA to drape around the house. :)

Happy New Year 2013

Happy New Year everyone!

About 55,000 tourists visit Liechtenstein every year. This blog was viewed about 530,000 times in 2012. If it were Liechtenstein, it would take about 10 years for that many people to see it. My blog had more visits than a small country in Europe!

Merry Christmas 2012

Merry Christmas dear reader! :)

Wish List: A slipper tub

ofuro_by_kalkulation

This is the 2nd of my ‘wish list’ series (after over 200 posts!) so yeah I don’t take my wish list lightly. Just a warning that this is a long rambling post as it took me a while to figure out the perfect tub that I want.

I started off with this post wanting an ofuro tub in my next place, no thanks to a colleague from Japan waxing lyrical about how relaxing the Japanese tubs are a few months ago. Actually, an ofuro tub with a view would be more like it.  Like the one in the featured picture above.
